About Zeew — Why We Draw Patterns

A pen, a hard year, a habit that stuck

One of us picked up Zentangle during a stretch when sleep was short and the head was loud. Ten minutes a night with a pen turned out to do more than a lot of advice had. The other got pulled in over a kitchen table and never really left.

We made Zeew because the thing that helped us is almost free, needs no talent, and nobody had told us about it. That felt worth fixing.

What we believe about this

It is for everyone. If you can write your name, you can do this. "I can't draw" is the one sentence we hear most, and it is always wrong.
Small and finished beats big and abandoned. A complete tile in twenty minutes does more for you than a sketchbook full of half-starts.
No erasing. The practice is about accepting the line you drew and building on it. That habit leaks out into the rest of life, quietly.
Free first. Everything we teach, you can do with a pen you already own. We will never gate the basics behind a purchase.

Where we are

We are based near Gladstone, Missouri, and we share what we learn here so you do not have to dig through a dozen forums to begin. The writing is ours, the tangles are the wider Zentangle community's, and the credit for the method belongs to its founders, Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas.
